iW's Favorite Online Video of the Day: The Award-Winning Nokia Cell Phone Romance

Every day, Indiewire will scour the internet looking for an online video we think our audience will appreciate. From artistic videos making their rounds on Vimeo and Youtube to online tutorials, we’re committed to making sure filmmakers, industry, and fans find the online videos that most suit them.

Last week, Edinburgh International Film Festival audiences were treated to eight short films shot on N8 cell phones supplied by Nokia. The films were vetted after the filmmakers submitted pitches to the Nokia contest.

After the Edinburgh screening, it was announced that JW Griffiths’ transatlantic two-frame romance, “Splitscreen: A Love Story,” was the contest’s winner. Griffiths received a cool $10,000 for his winning film. Check out all eight of the contest’s finalists here.

As for the winning film: If a cell phone can produce a movie like this, it’s no wonder that the much-loved Flip went out of business.
