Oscar-winning French actress Juliette Binoche, whose recent “Clouds of Sils Maria” will be released in the U.S. on December 1, will receive the Excellence Award presented by Moet & Chandon. The Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Parmigiani, will be presented to Armin Mueller-Stahl, who has been performing in movies for nearly 60 years. Lastly, Mia Farrow will be given the Leopard Club Award at the festival.
Films shown at the festival will include the new works of Jean-Luc Goddard and Thom Anderson, as well as a historical segment that features everything from Charlie Chaplin to Jean-Francois Amiguet.
The lineup of films for Locarno contains a variety of enriching categories and viewing experiences, including Locarno’s Piazza Grande, an 8,000 seat outdoor facility. Also featured will be the Fuori Concorso category, which showcases the work of established masters, and a unique category called Open Doors, a chance to see England and Portuguese language cinema from sub-Saharan Africa. The full schedule for the festival, broken up by section, is listed below.
