Even sneakers can be viewed as art, and there’s a whole culture for this particular passion.

The world of sneaker collecting is the subject of the new documentary “Sneakerheadz,” directed by David T. Friendly and Mick Partridge, which has just been acquired by Gravitas Ventures.

The film recently premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in the Documentary Spotlight section. Featured participants in the film include rapper Wale, skateboarder Rob Dydrek and designer Jeff Staple.

The film will be released in theaters and on VOD this fall through a collaboration with Gravitas Ventures, Complex, AT&T and Submarine Deluxe. “We are excited to be teaming up with Gravitas, The Submarine team and Complex; with their passion, we know our film is in good hands,” said Friendly. “We cannot wait to see our movie finally on the big screen and in front of audiences around the world.”

“Sneakerheadz” will simultaneously debut on AT&T U-verse Video on Demand, the U-verse mobile app and on uverse.com with exclusive content and special behind the scenes peeks available on Complex.com.
