Chris Evans is best known for playing Captain America, but his latest role appears to have had just as strong an effect on him: “Lobby Hero,” his Broadway debut. The actor has been profiled by the New York Times and, amid all the talk about what his life might be like post-Marvel, Reggie Ugwu writes that Evans’ role as a police officer in the play written by “Manchester by the Sea” writer/director Kenneth Lonergan has “unexpectedly submerged Mr. Evans in questions of gender inequality and the distribution of power just as those same questions are roiling his industry.”

It’s also been an occasion for him to contemplate how best to be an ally to women in the #MeToo era. His solution: “listen more and speak less.”“The hardest thing to reconcile is that just because you have good intentions, doesn’t mean it’s your time to have a voice,” he says.

On the recommendation of his ex-girlfriend, Jenny Slate, Evans also read Rebecca Solnit’s book “The Mother of All Things.” Read the full profile here.
