Watch: The 'Batkid Begins' Documentary Trailer Will Melt Your Heart

An entire city bands together to create the comic-book-influenced experience of a lifetime for a young child recovering from an illness. This might sound like the plot of your new favorite tearjerker, but it’s actually the true story of Miles Scott, the 5-year-old boy recovering from Leukemia who got to live the day of a lifetime in November, 2013.
Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World” tells the story of how Miles, who dreamed of being Batman and saving Gotham city from evildoers, was granted his wish by the San Francisco Make-a-Wish Foundation. In the trailer, Patricia Wilson, executive director of San Francisco’s Make-A-Wish chapter, explains how what started as a citywide event to reclaim a childhood grew into a juggernaut.
The documentary also features footage from the Batkid event, which saw 25,000 people travel to San Francisco to support Miles and his family and another 2 billion–including President Obama–interacting online from all over the world. It’s also been generating buzz following the news that Julia Roberts will be producing and starring in a feature film adaptation of the documentary. Watch the trailer above.
