Indiewire is excited to present the intriguing portrait poster for Federico Veiroj’s San Sebastian competitor “The Apostate” (“El Apostata). The image says it all with the film’s protagonist Gonzalo Tamayo, played by Alvaro Ogalla, at the forefront gripping a cross in his hand.

“The Apostate” provides a darkly comedic take on the coming-of-age genre through the story of Gonzalo, a young man who struggles to free himself from the faith of his father and confront his tumultuous past riddled with guilt and desire.

The film will premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September.
