The application period for the Producers Guild of America (PGA) 11th annual “Power of Diversity” Producing Workshop has opened. Applications will be accepted now thru Monday, April 13, 2015 at 12pm PDT. Ten applicants will be selected to participate in an intensive workshop that will take place one to two evenings per week beginning Thursday, June 11.

The “Power of Diversity” Workshop is designed to foster the development of producers and projects that embody and promote diversity in film, television, documentary and new media. Participants will receive access to some of the most successful producers in the industry through master classes and one-on-one mentoring sessions. Topics are tailored specifically to the participants and their respective projects.

“Lately, there’s been a rallying cry to motivate the entertainment community to accurately reflect our world in its storytelling,” said PGA Diversity Committee Chair Deborah Calla. “As the PGA enters its second decade nurturing new voices through our ‘Power of Diversity’ workshop, we are proud that promoting diversity in the top ranks of film, television, and digital production continues to be a top priority for the Guild.”

Past mentors of the PGA’s “Power of Diversity” Workshop include Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Bruce Cohen (“Silver Linings Playbook”), Luis Barreto (“America’s Next Top Model,”),  Bonnie Arnold (“Toy Story”) and Nina Yong (Sundance favorite “Dope”). Past workshop participants have gone on to produce on successful television series such as “Justified” (Ben Lobato) and “Southland” (Aaron Rahsaan Thomas).
