Hulu‘s roster of April additions may not be able to rival the amount of award-winning titles Netflix adds to its online catalogue each month, but the streaming platform is nonetheless offering a solid mix of fan-favorite television shows and movies. While reality television dominates a majority of Hulu’s streaming library, serious film and television lovers will take comfort in knowing the latest seasons of “Louie,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Wilfred” and more will all be finding a home at Hulu in April. Indiewire Pick: “Louie” Season 4
Fans of Louis C.K.’s comically delirious and pathos-ridden FX series couldn’t have asked for a better or more daring season of television than last year’s dynamite 14-episode run. A confident mix of searing standalone episodes (the dream-turned-nightmare “Model,” the Emmy-winning “So Did the Fat Lady”) and three different long-form arcs, a first in the history of the show, Season 4 effectively captures the heartfelt and bruised soul of its talented central voice. Look no further than the two-part, Jeremy Renner-starring “In the Woods” episode for proof of the dark power of comedy.

Indiewire Pick: “On the Waterfront” (1954)
The highlight of this gripping film chronicling the conflict between a corrupt labor boss and a crusading Catholic priest is one of Marlon Brando’s signature performances. As dock worker Terry Malloy, Brando is a blistering feat in what may just be the best movie performance of all time. Nailing every complex shade of the character, from his tenderness opposite Eva Marie Saint’s Edie to his escalating torment, Brando secured a spot in acting history with his work here and inspired a wave of future talents to go full-on method. It’s a performance that simply cannot be missed.

Indiewire Pick: “Sons of Anarchy” Season 7 (Final Season)
The final season of Kurt Sutter’s brutal Shakespearian drama gave fans plenty of the blistering character moments that defined why this FX drama was such an emotional wallop across its six-year run. Tormented by grief and a growing desire for revenge, the season picks up with an imprisoned Jax (the smoldering Charlie Hunnam) trailblazing new alliances and the loyalty to his original gang. Guest stars include Marilyn Manson and Lea Michele.
