The Anna Faris and Allison Janney sitcom has been a bit of a guilty pleasure for a few Indiewire staffers, and the successful first season — already renewed for a second — wraps up tonight on CBS. “Smokey Taylor and a Deathbed Confession” finds Christy (Faris) and Bonnie (Janney) helping Violet through labor along with the return of Alvin, Christy’s dad, played by Kevin Pollak. Tune in to see why these two top-lining female comedy stars have the chops to make even a CBS sitcom work.

“Community” Season Five Finale

Could this be the series finale as well as the season finale for the Greendale gang, or will Abed’s creed of “six seasons and movie” live on? Odds are tilting slightly in “Community’s” favor as of now, though the continuous bubble show still faces a dicey road before renewal. Nevertheless, Thursday’s episode titled “Basic Sandwich” finds Subway trying to take over the community college while the study group investigates the legend of a disgraced former dean. Chris Elliott guest stars on what could be — but probably isn’t — the Greendale gang’s last run.
Thursday, April 17th at 8pm on ESPN
The acclaimed documentary series “30 for 30” has produced possibly as many impressive sports stories as Ken Burns at this point, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Thursday night’s entry focuses on the Detroit Pistons of the late ’80s and early ’90s, a team so physical and confrontational it earned them the nickname “Bad Boys.” Whether you loved watching Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, and a young Dennis Rodman or loved to hate them, the “30 for 30” series has got you covered. Just remember: once Michael Jordan came to power, no one — not even these so-called “Bad Boys” — could take him down.

It’s actually quite difficult to make the season three finale of “Scandal” sound more enticing than its official description does:
Election Day has
arrived and nothing is off limits as the candidates try to capture
votes. Meanwhile, Olivia (Kerry Washington) tries to understand Maya’s (Khandi Alexander) motives and Charlie (George Newbern) makes a very surprising move.
Sure, there could be a few more details sprinkled in, but that would only take away from the excitement of watching Thursday night. “The Price of Free and Fair Elections” was written by series creator Shonda Rhimes and Mark Wilding.
