George Clooney isn’t a fan of Steve Bannon. For proof, just ask George Clooney what he thinks of Steve Bannon. The “Suburbicon” director is promoting his new film in Toronto, where he spoke candidly about the former White House Chief Strategist’s unsuccessful forays into Hollywood: “Steve Bannon is a failed f—ing screenwriter, and if you’ve ever read [his] screenplay, it’s unbelievable,” he said.

“Now, if he’d somehow managed miraculously to get that thing produced, he’d still be in Hollywood, still making movies and licking my ass to get me to do one of his stupid-ass screenplays,” Clooney added. Bannon was a producer before falling upward into the White House, where he’s credited with influencing some of Donald Trump’s most controversial decisions; the script to which Clooney refers is an unproduced hip-hop musical about the L.A. Riots inspired by Shakespeare’s “Coriolanus.” (Seriously.)

Clooney also noted the irony that celebrities such as himself are called “out of touch” by supporters of Trump, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and receives a SAG pension. “Hollywood is being quite well represented right now in the West Wing somehow,” he joked.
