Criterion Collection & Turner Classic Movies Launching New Streaming Service, FilmStruck, This Fall

This morning, the global media company Turner announced the company’s first direct-to-consumer ad-free streaming service Filmstruck. Managed by Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in collaboration with the Criterion Collection, Filmstruck will feature an indelible mix of contemporary and classic filled with arthouse, foreign and cult films. It will be the exclusive streaming home for Criterion Collection titles, which will move its library from its current home Hulu. There will be a premium Criterion channel curated and programmed by the brain trust at the Criterion Collection that will feature bonus supplements like audio commentaries previous unavailable on streaming services. Filmstruck’s library will also host titles from such celebrated indie studios like Janus Films, Flicker Alley, Icarus, Kino, Milestone, and Zeitgeist, along with some movies from major Hollywood studios including Warner Bros.

Peter Becker, president of the Criterion Collection, says, “Working with TCM’s programming team, we’ll present a broad, constantly changing cross-section of Criterion titles on FilmStruck, a platform designed from the start to present films with the kind of robust supplemental features that Criterion is known for.”

Filmstruck is set to launch sometime this fall. Subscription prices are still being worked out. More information at www.filmstruck.com.
