'Lowest Grossing Film of All Time' Get GoDigital Release

“Zyzzyx Road” — reportedly the lowest grossing film of all time — is getting a summer digital release though GoDigital, it was announced today.

Starring Katherine Heigl and Tom Sizemore, the film gained minor notoriety when it grossed only $30 back in 2006. The film shown just once a day for seven days at a small theater in Dallas, Texas to fulfill the U.S. release obligation required by the Screen Actors Guild for low-budget films. Though not technically an official theatrical run, the numbers received considerable press including a n article in Entertainment Weekly by the name of “The Strange and Twisted Tale of… The Movie That Grossed $30.00.”

But its DVD run proved much more successful, leading to GoDigital’s acquisiton.

“The film’s DVD run in the worldwide market has been successful, and we are excited to finally move into US households.  We know a lot of consumers are out there waiting, and pairing up with GoDigital on this was an easy decision,” said Leo Grillo, the film’s executive producer, in a statement.

“We love the story behind this film and are thrilled to be part of what we believe will be a happy ending, I am confident it will make us more than $30,” added GoDigital Director of Marketing, Barry Daffurn, “with a smile” (at least according to the press release).
