How do you possibly followup a $1 billion worldwide phenomenon? If you’re “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow, you line up another big project (in this case “Star Wars: Episode IX”) and then dive head first into the polar opposite direction. Enter “The Book of Henry,” Trevorrow’s upcoming drama that brings him back to the intimate human drama that made him stand out at Sundance in 2012 with “Safety Not Guaranteed.”

Featuring rising young stars Jaeden Lieberher (“Midnight Special”) and Jacob Tremblay (“Room”), the film centers around two young boys who go on a rescue mission to save their neighbor (Maddie Ziegler) from her abusive father. Not much else is known about the plot, though Naomi Watts will appear as the boys’ mother.

Speaking to Empire, Trevorrow revealed “The Book of Henry” was the only kind of project he could’ve taken on after achieving global dominance with his dinosaur blockbuster. “I wanted to do something that scared the hell out of me,” he said. “An acoustic movie with intense emotion. The challenge was to give an audience the same tension and thrills they get from a blockbuster, but rely solely on story and character to do it.”

Check out the first look image above. Focus Features will release “The Book of Henry” on September 16, making a potential birth at the Toronto International Film Festival an extreme possibility.
