The term “murderer’s row” is tossed around a touch too much when it comes to discussing star-studded cinematic offerings, and yet this new look at Steve McQueen‘s thriller “Widows” all but begs for its use. Directed by McQueen and adapted from the British TV series of the same name by both McQueen and “Gone Girl” and “Sharp Objects” author Gillian Flynn, the film hinges on a tragedy that befalls not just Viola Davis (and, typically, the presence of the Oscar winner is enough to get anyone excited), but also Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo, and Elizabeth Debicki.

As the eponymous widows, Davis’ Veronica and her unlikely band of lady friends decide to finish the heist that killed their four husbands, but it’s not just money or revenge that are driving their plan, it’s also just plain old survival, because they’ve got a lot of enemies. Some of those enemies — like a chilling Brian Tyree Henry and a seemingly unruffled Colin Farrell — take center stage in this newest trailer for the film, which plays up not just the insanity of the heist, but of the very world the women are forced to inhabit.

McQueen has assembled an impressive ensemble cast for the film, including Farrell, Henry, Daniel Kaluuya, Garret Dillahunt, Carrie Coon, Jacki Weaver, Jon Bernthal, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Robert Duvall, and Liam Neeson.

Check out the newest trailer for “Widows” below. 20th Century Fox will open on November 16 after world premiering the film at TIFF next month.
