Watch: ‘Veronica Mars’ Spinoff ‘Play It Again, Dick’ Revives Ryan Hansen’s Dick

“Veronica Mars” fans sure are one blessed group. Seven years after the mystery drama was infuriatingly canceled by The CW, creator Rob Thomas and his talented cast, headed by Bell, made a glorious big screen comeback last March, when the eponymous feature length film was released. And while it took one of the most highly publicized Kickstarter campaigns ever to get “Veronica Mars” back in front of fans, the show needs no such help for its latest endeavor. Behold “Play It Again, Dick,” a spinoff web series featuring Ryan Hansen as fan favorite Dick Casablancas.

The CW just released a new rapid fire teaser for the upcoming web series, which premieres September 16, and it’s chock full of meta sight gags that will get Marshmallows jittery with anticipation. Feeling creatively revived after the success of the movie, the spinoff will follow Hansen as he tries to exploit the show’s newfound popularity and create a “Veronica Mars” spinoff. Expect lots of cameos from the cast as Hansen tries to bring in his begrudging costars for help, as well as a hilarious tone more akin to Thomas’ “Party Down” than the sleuthing spunk of “Veronica Mars” that we’ve come to love.
