Independent Filmmaker Project Opens Up Narrative Web Series

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) will launch a new web series platform as part of its Emerging Storytellers Program, which looks for rising talent in the independent film scene.

For the first time ever, IFP will be accepting applications for narrative web series at all stages of development, production, and post-production

IFP will select five web series to join one of the largest forums in the United States for independent film discussion. In addition, the selected web series’ will have access to IFP web series programs that will be up and running in 2015 and a chance to show at the Filmmaker Conference at the IFP Film Week.

“As the barriers between film, television, and the web grow more porous, emerging storytellers are gravitating towards smaller screens and shorter form content to showcase their talents,” said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of the IFP and the Made in NY Media Center. “We are excited to expand our expertise connecting storytellers to essential resources to artists focusing on web series.”

In a blog post, IFP explains why web series matter.

The competition is only open to American filmmakers whose projects cannot be shown until October 2014. Winners will receive exclusive meetings with digital distributors, online platforms, production companies, financiers, agents, managers who can further propel their projects and careers. They will also get the chance to be mentored by experienced innovators, IFP staff, and alumni filmmakers across the field.

For more information on how to apply and what to submit (which will include a script and an outline of the script) check out the IFP website here.
