Watch: 'The Witch' Featurette is Full of Period Drama and Dark Possession

It’s been over a year since “The Witch” first turned heads at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, but all of the anticipation will finally be settled next weekend when A24 opens the terrifying possession drama in theaters nationwide. While skipping a traditional limited release may seem risky, the company has done an effective job marketing the picture, something that culminates with a great new featurette above.

“If you could upload a Puritan’s nightmare into the audience’s brain, that’s what I was hoping people would experience,” says writer-director Robert Eggers about the film. “There really was darkness and danger in what the early modern witch was.”
