When J.K. Rowling released the screenplay to “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” in bookstores earlier this year, it grossed over $2 million in just two days in the U.S. and Canada, making very clear that the appetite for new Wizarding World stories is bigger than ever. That fact bodes well for “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them,” the first film in a prequel trilogy that brings the magic of Harry Potter to 1926 New York City.

Written by Rowling and directed by franchise mainstay David Yates, “Beasts” stars Eddie Redmayne as eccentric wizard Newt Scamander, who arrives in New York City for an important meeting at the Magical Congress. Newt’s briefcase houses dangerous creatures and their habitats, and it’s not long before the beasts are unleashed, sending Newt on an adventure to get them back and prevent a war from starting between wizards and humans. Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Dan Fogel, Carmen Ejogo and Ezra Miller co-star.

The new trailer provides our best look yet at Scamander’s fantastical creatures, while playing up the movie’s New York City location. This will be the first time many of us will discover what the Wizarding World is like in America, and it appears Rowling will have a blast with Newt’s fish-out-of-water journey.

“Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” opens in theaters nationwide November 18. Watch the new trailer below.
