Tim Heidecker Sings About Downing Donald Trump’s Plane in ‘Trump’s Pilot’ — Listen

As part of the rapidly expanding “30 Days, 50 Songs” campaign (which originally kicked off as the “30 Days, 30 Songs” campaign, so fast is its spread), which has already seen 45 brand new anti-Donald Trump jams from such talents as Death Cab for Cutie, R.E.M., Ani DiFranco and Jimmy Eat World, comedian and musician Tim Heidecker has unveiled his own new song.
Entitled “Trump’s Pilot,” the folksy, almost Bob Dylan-esque song is strummed from the perspective of the presidential hopeful’s own pilot, who croons about his day-to-day life before revealing his plan to purposely crash the plane en route from rally to rally.
Of his song, Heidecker explained over on the campaign’s official site, that he “wrote this song a month or so before the Republican National Convention after thinking that we were running out of options to stop the Trump Train. My humor tends to skew dark, so I imagined a kamikaze style situation, where the pilot sacrifices himself for the sake of the country. I’ve performed it live a few times, and let me tell you: there’s a real cathartic satisfaction in singing the last few lines, and I always choke up a bit.”
As Pitchfork reminds us, it’s hardly the first time Heidecker has gone political with his songs, as the funny man previously wrote and sung the Herman Cain-praising (kinda?) jam “Lord Cain.”
