After announcing that his surprise short documentary “Junun” would be premiering on MUBI after screening at the 53rd New York Film Festival on October 8, Paul Thomas Anderson has yet another surprise for fans this month. The director’s new music video for Joanna Newsom‘s song “Divers,” off her upcoming album of the name same, will be getting a theatrical release from October 16-22 in various theaters across the country.

The duo previously collaborated on Anderson’s “Inherent Vice,” in which Newsom drew praise for her turn as the narrator Sortilège. Anderson directed the singer’s music video for “Sapokanikan,” the first single off of her upcoming album, in early August. “Divers” hits stores this month.
