Since first premiering in Venice, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Birdman” has emerged as an awards front-runner, despite its bleak and wacky outlook into psyche of an aging actor whose claim to fame was that of a superhero. The film is the official closing selection for the New York Film Festival, which kicks off today.
