“Growing Cities”

Tweetable Logline:

Growing Cities: Two friends, 80 urban farmers, and one unforgettable roadtrip!

Elevator Pitch:

GROWING CITIES is a film about urban farming in America. Part roadtrip movie and part feel-good documentary, the film weaves together urban farmers’ stories in over 20 cities across the country, providing a window into the people who are transforming our communities one vacant city lot and backyard chicken coop at a time. In following the filmmakers’ journey cross-country, viewers are prompted to re-imagine what’s possible in cities and inspired to create GROWING CITIES of their own.

Production Team:

Director/Producer: Dan Susman
Cinematographer/Co-producer: Andrew Monbouquette
Production Manager: Brent Lubbert

About the Production:

“I grew up planting vegetables in the backyard with my parents. After working on an urban farm in Portland, OR I realized that not all kids have that same opportunity and that I wanted to change that. Since 80% of our country lives in cities, I figured there wasn’t a better place to start than showcasing urban agriculture.

“I told Andrew (co-producer) about my plan to visit urban farms and he said, “we have to make a movie about this.” GROWING CITIES is our effort to show that anyone, anywhere can grow food, regardless of the space you have available.” — Dan Susman

Current Status:

Post-production.
