In “Heart of a Dog,” performance artist Laurie Anderson celebrates and mourns her treasured rat terrier Lolabelle, who she lost in 2011. The film marks Anderson’s first cinematic effort since 1986.

“Heart of a Dog” premiered to glowing reviews at Telluride earlier this year, where Indiewire’s Eric Kohn wrote, “In the pantheon of memorable dogs in recent cinema — from ‘The Artist’ show-stealer Uggie to Jean-Luc Godard’s ‘Goodbye to Language’ star Roxy — one can now add Lolabelle, the late piano-playing rat terrier owned by Laurie Anderson and saluted in her stirring essay film ‘Heart of a Dog.'”

“Heart of a Dog” will screen at the New York Film Festival on October 8, before opening theatrically from Abramorama at Film Forum on October 21st followed by a nationwide release in November. It will air on HBO in early 2016. Check out the exclusive poster above.
