“The Colbert Report” came to a close last night, and while there were many highlights to be found in the last moments of Colbert’s Comedy Central nightly newscast — not the least of which was Stephen becoming immortal — the final sign off came in an aptly absurd fashion.

Colbert has always enjoyed making a joyous mockery of silly events, and though the end of his show was anything but unimportant, Colbert blew off the poignancy of many other series finales in favor of an outlandish all-star sing-along.
