Project of the Day: 'The Package'

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress — at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

The Package

Tweetable Logline: A coming of age story about a young boy aging out of foster care, who takes drastic measures to earn guardianship of his younger brother.

Elevator Pitch: The Package is a coming of age story that focuses around a young boy (Kyle) who is aging out of the foster care system and wants desperately to take guardianship of his younger brother. Just months before the system dumps him out on the street, Kyle begins to take drastic measures to earn as much money as he can. Along his journey he becomes involved with the local crime boss (Tony) and begins delivering mysterious packages to an unknown recipient. The usual drop location is the city’s metro HQ. Kyle has never failed, until today — the Package is gone!

Production Team:
Brian J. Kronenberg – Co-Director / Co-Producer / Cinematographer
Sue Keeton – Co-Director / Co-Writer / Co-Producer

About the film: We’ve been wanting to make a coming of age/thriller film. The problem of “aging out” of the foster care system in the U.S. is a really serious problem for our society. This film highlights the dramatic obstacles one boy goes through to make enough money to support himself and his younger brother. We are fortunate to have David Labrava (playing “Tony”) as the lead antagonist in the film. Along with a pet leopard to enforce his rules! This short film is a fast-paced Bourne-like thriller that is a teaser for the feature script.
