Denis Villeneuve‘s “Sicario” is gearing up for its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival with an intense new clip that teases a violent confrontation to come.

The official synopsis reads: “In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent (Emily Blunt) is enlisted by an elite government task force official (Josh Brolin) to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past (Benicio Del Toro), the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.”

Not only is Del Toro front and center in the clip above, but so is the grounded and aerial cinematography by Roger Deakins, who last worked with Villeneuve on “Prisoners.” “Sicario” premiered to acclaim at Cannes earlier this year and opens in select theaters September 18. The film goes wide September 25.
