Take Our Who-Says-What ‘Newsroom’ Season 3 Quiz Before Watching the Teaser (Which Stars a Copier)

Take Our Who-Says-What 'Newsroom' Season 3 Quiz Before Watching the Teaser (Which Stars Copier)

Many critics of Aaron Sorkin’s Emmy-winning HBO drama “The Newsroom” have been turned off by, well, a number of things (poorly constructed female characters, self-indulgent liberal pandering, Alison Pill), but one thing that’s evident to everyone from the get go is that the show’s creator and characters do not, I repeat, do NOT like technology. They are not friends to the internet. They’re not going to adapt with the times. They would never win a Streamy award, and, frankly, they do not give a damn about it.

So it should come as little-to-no surprise that the first glimpse we get of the show’s upcoming final season is not footage of the show’s upcoming final season, but instead script pages being scanned and copied by a copy machine that really deserved some time in the spotlight. We get flashes of big words like “whistleblower,” “encryption key,” and “espionage,” which all adds up to one very likely scenario: “The Newsroom” Season 3 — which according to this video will premiere in November — will cover Edward Snowden (or Wikileaks, considering Sorkin’s love for dated news analysis).

The teaser also promises some personal drama, with Will being accused of content of court and asked to surrender to U.S. Marshals. Sadly, there is no mention of Will and Mackenzie’s wedding or the Genoa scandal (unless they’re talking about Jerry Dantana as “the whistleblower”). You can check out the trailer for yourself below, but let’s have some fun before you do. Below, you’ll find quotes found in the teaser — try to guess who said what before you watch. Remember: Aaron Sorkin IS Will McAvoy, and both like to hear themselves talk.

1) “How do you think they’re gonna get the whistleblower?”

2) “He’s gonna be sent to jail.”

3) “Feel free to…fire me.”

4) “You induced him to commit a felony. You conspired to commit espionage.”

5) “Well, I think it’s time for me to quit.”

You can find answers in the teaser below or, if you prefer to save 40 seconds, by reading the key beneath the video. “The Newsroom” will premiere at a unknown date in November 2014. Jeff Daniels won an Emmy for his work on the show last year, and is again nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Drama at tonight’s Primetime Emmy Awards airing on NBC.

Answers: 1) Will; 2) Reese; 3) Maggie; 4) Will; 5) Will
