Tweetable Logline: An indie take on 70’s thrillers, Americana follows an alcoholic editor whose starlet sister is murdered before the opening of her new film.
Elevator Pitch: David Call stars as Avery Wells, a recovering alcoholic who is trying to prove himself again as a film editor. When his movie-star sister, played by Rachel Brosnahan, is killed outside the premiere party for the film, Avery tasks himself with finding out why she was killed, while simultaneously dealing with his chronic addiction.

About the film: I was born in San Francisco, with a location manager as a father, and since childhood I’ve felt deeply connected to the city and it’s film history. The story of “Americana” – an actor being killed before her film opens – has always been a compelling scenario for me, both because of it’s realism and its noir overtones. It felt perfectly suited for a Nixonian-era thriller, the genre responsible for my desire to make films. What we create out of this idea will hopefully come through not only as a thematic homage, but as a love letter to San Francisco.
Current Status: “Americana” is in the final stages of fundraising before production begins in October 2014.
