Logline: In 1975, Lee Brady and David Sanderson created edible underwear also known as “Candypants.” Their 50-year love story is a modern-day fairy tale, full of adventure and heartache, ogres and sages, with a true love magical ending.
Elevator Pitch:
“Candypants: A Fairy Tale” is the story of Lee Brady and David Sanderson, the two gay men who invented Edible Underwear and the whirlwind adventure that followed. Their struggles and successes included battles with the FDA, the FBI, and the Mafia. Along the way they’ve made many unlikely allies (including former Japanese propagandist Tokyo Rose). In the end it’s a 50 year love story of two princes and a the kingdom they created.

About the Film:
The hook was easy, to tell the story of the guys who invented Candypants, the original Edible Underwear. A fun gag that still makes people smile. However after meeting Lee and David and learning more about their story, both as individuals and as a couple, how they grew up separately in mob controlled small Illinois towns, how they met and the crazy adventures that came after Candypants, we knew we had to tell their fairytale story in all its beautiful colors. Their story is the story of Gay Chicago, and of America in the second half of the 20th Century.
