2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series

2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
2015 Emmy Predictions: Best Supporting Actress Comedy Series

A six-time winner (including two in 2014), Allison Janney has almost as many trophies as she does competitors in 2015. Thanks to the TV Academy implementing its two-percent rule — stating any nominee within two percent of the next nominee is considered a tie, and both are included — across the acting categories this year, Janney will face more competition than ever in her fight to retain the title of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Many of the 2015 nominees have been here before, with Mayim Bialik, Julie Bowen, Anna Chlumsky, and Kate McKinnon all returning from 2014 (and earlier). Only Bowen has won before (twice), but Jane Krakowski is making her triumphant return to the Emmys after earning four nominations throughout “30 Rock’s” impressive aughts-era run. She could finally snag a win this year thanks to re-teaming with Tina Fey, but there are plenty of new faces who are just as eager to make their mark.

Gaby Hoffman and Niecy Nash were perhaps the most pleasant surprises on nominations’ morning. Both are certainly deserving, but few would have called them locks heading into the announcement. Now they’re in the ring with the rest of them, making the race this year all the more exciting as winners, veterans and rookies alike square off.

Below are predictions for who will win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series from both Indiewire Awards Editor Peter Knegt and TV Critic Ben Travers.
