‘Halloween’ Star P.J. Soles Discusses Shooting John Carpenter’s Slasher Classic in Hour-Long Podcast — Listen
It’s been almost 40 years since director John Carpenter terrified audiences everywhere with the horror film “Halloween,” but the slasher classic still resonates with fans today, many of whom love to revisit the film every year around October 31. One such fan is Earwolf podcaster Matt Gourley, who recently spoke with “Halloween” star P.S. Soles, who played the role of Lynda van der Klok in the 1978 film.
During the more than one-hour podcast, Soles discussed the day she had to shoot the famous love scene that included a brief “flash” of nudity and culminated with her death.
“That was a fun day. John Carpenter was more nervous about it that I was because he kept asking me, ‘Are you okay with this?’” Soles said, adding that she figured a quick shot of nudity would be fine, because her parents weren’t going to go see a horror movie. “Of course they did, but it was so quick. I guess you guys seem to think it was longer than it was.”
“Halloween” centers on the serial killer Michael Myers, who stabbed his sister to death at the age of six and escaped a mental hospital 15 years later to terrorize the people of Haddonfield. A new installment of the horror franchise entitled “Halloween: The Night Evil Died,” is in the works, to be released in 2017.
