‘Twin Peaks’: Watch David Lynch Direct Senorita Dido in Exclusive Look at ‘Part 8’

How did that glowing orb move through a movie screen? "You close your eyes, kiss it, and give it so much love," Lynch says.

Twin Peaks” took the summer by storm in 2017, and no episode was more widely discussed and dissected than “Part 8.”

Soon, you’ll be able to learn more than ever about the eighth episode — and the series overall — via behind-the-scenes footage in the “The Return’s” upcoming Blu-ray release. But right now you can get your first glimpse of the director’s process in an exclusive video below.

In an excerpt from one of the special features, Lynch can be seen directing actress Joy Nash, who plays Senorita Dido in “Twin Peaks.” Hands raised, pretending to hold Laura Palmer’s golden orb of light, Lynch mimics the motions for Nash while describing what will be going on in the scene.

“You close your eyes, kiss it, and give it so much love,” he says.

The set itself is an impressive backdrop — the giant teapot that is Special Agent Phillip Jeffries is a collectible to die for — and Lynch’s matter-of-fact explanation makes the extraordinary sound oh-so-ordinary. He clearly sees the world differently, and he sees his work with an exacting precision.

He’d have to for “Part 8” to work. Depicting the origin of good vs. evil, the eighth hour of Lynch’s 18-hour opus includes everything from an atomic bomb detonating in New Mexico to a foreign insect crawling inside a sleeping girl’s mouth. Only recently did we learn that girl was Sarah Palmer, and there’s no telling what more we might learn from videos like the ones below.

Twin Peaks: The Return” debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, December 5. Watch the video of Lynch below.
