Logline: Two best friends embark on a crime spree across the Southwest in search of their California dream life, and along the way form an unlikely friendship with their accidental hostage.
Elevator Pitch:
“Easy Does It” is a freewheeling adventure comedy about two best friends, Jack and Scottie, who take their shot at the American dream– robbing their way across the Southwest, hostage in tow, in search of their imagined California Utopia. It’s a movie about friendship, chasing dreams, and the sacrifices that come when we have to choose between the two.
A road movie in the great tradition of “Easy Rider” and “Thelma and Louise”, the film has a French New Wave influenced style and a tone akin to the quirky dark comedies of the Coen Brothers and Wes Anderson.

Ben Matheny – Actor, Co-writer
Bruno Doria – Cinematographer
Lizzie Guitreau – Production Coordinator

About the Film:
Much like the plans of our movie’s heroes, our goals for this film are ambitious. We want to raise enough funds to hire name talent giving us our best shot at the festival circuit and distribution.
So, while we set “Easy Does It” in the 70s to parallel Vietnam War era disillusionment, the struggle to chase big dreams feels very real right here and now.
We’ve been chasing ours since 2008 when we started collaborating in film school at the University of New Orleans, and now, with your help, we can make them come true.
Current Status: Fundraising.
