Watch: Cameron Crowe Showtime Drama ‘Roadies’ Gets Rockin’ First Trailer and Summer Tour Date
With “Vinyl” readying for its series premiere this Sunday on HBO, Showtime wasn’t about to let people forget about the other rock ‘n roll drama set for 2016, debuting today the first trailer for Cameron Crowe‘s highly-anticipated new drama, “Roadies.”
Following the lives of the people who make all your favorite concerts actually happen, “Roadies” stars Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino and Imogen Poots as a tight-knit crew of a legendary band and their complicated lives on the road. Romance and business blend to the tunes of some all-time great songs, and the Oscar-nominated “Almost Famous” writer is there to set the soundtrack.
Crowe’s first television show hit some early setbacks, as a key role — now played by Gugino — was rewritten, losing original cast member Christina Hendricks in the process. But while scripts were still in development when the cast and creators spoke at the TCA Winter Press Tour in January, Showtime has gotten everything in order for a summer release date. Whether we have the producers of “Roadies” — including J.J. Abrams — to thank for that or the good folks at Showtime remains unclear, but this show about how music gets made has finally sorted out how to get made itself.
