Pete Davidson recently appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show (via Esquire) and had a fiery response to Chevy Chase‘s criticisms of the current “Saturday Night Live” cast. Chase, an original “SNL” cast member, slammed the sketch comedy series during an appearance on Norm Macdonald’s Netflix series and in an interview with The Washington Post.

“He’s a fucking douchebag,” Davidson told Stern. “Fuck Chevy Chase. He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz.”

“What has he done since ’83? Nothing,” the comedian continued. “He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realized he’s a jerkoff. He should know more than anybody. It’s disrespectful to Lorne, too, a guy who gave you a career. No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.”

Chase told The Post that he was “amazed that Lorne Michaels has gone so low” with the current iteration of “SNL,” which he alleges is making “a whole generation of shit-heads laugh at the worst fucking humor in the world.” Chase ripped into the cast again by telling Macdonald the present group is butchering the show’s famous catchphrase, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”

“I mean it just gets so bad,” Chase said about the line delivery, “and it seems like some guys are out there just to be the guy who says, ‘Live from New York,’ and then does it poorly. Anyway, that’s not nice of me to say, but…fuck ’em.”

Davidson has been an “SNL” cast member since 2014. The new season of sketch comedy series begins September 29 with host Adam Driver and musical guest Kanye West.
