‘Johnny English Strikes Again’ Trailer: Rowan Atkinson Revives His Beloved Bumbling Spy For Another Outing

The British comedian and his criminally inept spy character are back for a third film in the blockbuster franchise.
'Johnny English Strikes Again' Trailer: Rowan Atkinson Is Back

It’s been nearly seven years since British funnyman Rowan Atkinson awkwardly slipped into the ill-fitting suit of his other (non-Mr. Bean) big beloved character: bumbling spy Johnny English. The actor starred in a pair of Johnny English-centric films back in 2003 and 2011, and while neither were smash hits stateside, they proved to be massive international hits, with both making over $160M worldwide. That’s a comedy juggernaut.

Fresh off another long break between films, Atkinson is back as Johnny English, this time in “Johnny English Strikes Again,” which sees the secret agent pulled out of retirement to help bring down a mastermind hacker. In a sort of worst case scenario for any spy, a vicious cyber-attack reveals the identities of every active British spy, leaving it up to Johnny English to swoop in (presumably undetected) and find the lunatic behind the dastardly deed.

Johnny English has never been particularly good at fitting in or remembering his training, so who knows how he will handle the demands of cyber warfare (remember, this is a spy who can’t even operate a chair successfully), but surely there will be some big laughs as he tries to do just that.

The film also stars Ben Miller, Olga Kurylenko, Emma Thompson, and Jake Lacy. Check out the first trailer for “Johnny English Strikes Again” below.

“Johnny English Strikes Again” will be released in theaters in 2018, though its exact release date has not yet been announced.
