New York’s The Museum of Modern Art will be holding the second annual installment of “Mapping Subjectivity: Experimentation in Arab Cinema from the 1960s to Now” from October 5-23 in association with the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

The festival opens with “Chronicle of the Years of Embers,” Mohamed Lakhdar-Hamina’s colonial epic, which won the Palme D’Or and will have its U.S. premiere in a new cut. Other highlights include the international premiere of Azzeddine Meddour’s “How Much I Love You” and the U.S. premiere of Ahmed el-Maânouni’s “Alyam! Alyam!,” the first Moroccan film to play at the Cannes Film Festival.
