Danny Boyle's 'Trance' With James McAvoy Hit Theaters April 5

Fox Searchlight announced Tuesday that it will release its latest Danny Boyle-directed film, “Trance,” April 5 in a limited platform rollout.

In “Trance,” James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson star in the story of afine art auctioneer who suffers amnesia after the heist of a valuable Goya painting and the hypnotherapist hired to delve into his psyche to find where it’s hidden.Joe Ahearne and John Hodge wrote the screenplay; Christian Colson produced.

The early Spring date is not without its specialty-film competition. Sony Pictures Classics opens the Robert Redford-directed political thriller “The Company You Keep” April 5, the same day Magnolia Pictures releases its Toronto film festival pickup “The Brass Teapot” and Shane Carruth’s “Upstream Color” hits theaters through erbp. On the studio side, Universal unleashes its 3D conversion of “Jurassic Park” the same weekend.

Fox Searchlight released Boyle’s previous film, “127 Hours,” in the fall of 2010, and “Slumdog Millionaire” in the fall of 2008.
