'Birdman,' Richard Linklater & JK Simmons Explode Post-Oscar Buzz Infographic

The weeks leading up to the Academy Awards are jam packed with media analysis of all the major categories, but such intense scrutinization hardly stops once the ceremony wraps. In fact, the end of the big show is just the start of a tidal wave of media coverage, as evidenced in a new infographic below.

Mediametric has released a new chart on their blog titled “Power of Oscars,” which analyzes Academy Awards media coverage between the pre-Oscar and post-Oscar timeframes. The company counted all articles and social shares about the main Oscar nominations and split them into two categories: the 10 days of pre-Oscar buzz proceeding the awards show, and all the media coverage in the following four days.

Best Picture winner “Birdman” obviously exploded in the post-Oscar timeline, but one of the more interesting conclusions from the infographic is how little the media was covering Best Director winner Alejandro G. Inarritu in the days after the show. It seems more outlets were shining a light on Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood” snub than they were Inarritu’s victory.
