HBO Renews 'Silicon Valley' Second Season and 'Veep' Fourth

You may not understand everything they say, but get ready for more vulgarity-laced gibberish of the political and tech variety. Michael Lombardo, the president of HBO programming, announced today that the premium cable network has renewed two of their critical hit comedies “Veep” and “Silicon Valley,” both of which are currently airing Sunday nights. “Veep” will return for a fourth season and “Silicon Valley” will be back for season two.

“Silicon Valley” premiered well, thanks in part to a huge “Game of Thrones” lead-in. Indiewire has written about its strong potential as a mainstream hit for the network, and it looks like HBO has enough faith in Mike Judge’s latest live-action comedy to give it at least one more year.

“Veep” is a presumed frontrunner for a few Emmy awards this year following Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ win in 2013 along with Tony Hale, who plays her character’s loyal bagman. The show continues to earn rave reviews, including an “A” grade from Indiewire for its current season.

HBO also recently renewed “Game of Thrones” for two seasons. “Silicon Valley” will continue its eight-episode first season on Sunday nights at 10 pm while “Veep” follows it up at 10:30pm.
