Watch: Jake Gyllenhaal Gets Nutty 'Nightcrawler' Red Band Trailer

With writer-director Dan Gilroy‘s feature debut “Nightcrawler” just days away from its October 31 theatrical release, Open Road and Bold Films are capping off a brilliant marketing campaign with an inventive red band trailer that perfectly captures the movie’s nutty darkness. If such creative marketing ploys like assembling a LinkedIn profile weren’t enough to get your attention, hopefully this new trailer will do the trick.

Starring a transformative Jake Gyllenhaal as videographer Lou Bloom, “Nightcrawler” is both a thrilling exploration of the nocturnal Los Angeles underworld of freelance crime reporting and a humorously twisted comment on American news media. Any fans wondering just how well this “King of Comedy” meets “American Psycho” thriller will play out can get one rush of a sneak peak in the red band trailer below, which somehow manages to capture the unnerving comedic tone of the entire movie in just under two minutes. After seeing the film, Lou Bloom erasing the minus sign from a critic’s blurb will make sinisterly witty sense.

“Nightcrawler” also stars Rene Russo, Bill Paxton, and Riz Ahmed, who just received a Gotham Independent Film Award nomination for Breakthrough Actor.
