“Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter” stars Rinko Kikuchi (“Pacific Rim,” “Babel”) as a lonely Japanese woman who, after becoming obsessed with “Fargo,” heads to Minnesota in search of the briefcase from the Coen brothers’ film.

“We haven’t been able to stop talking about this film, and we think audiences will feel the same way,” said Dylan Marchetti of Amplify. “The Zellners have created a visual and sonic tour-de-force that demands a big screen and loud surround sound, and so we’re going to bring this exclusively to the top theaters around the country. The last twenty minutes will simply melt your brain.”

Amplify is also in charge of distribution for Terry Gilliam’s much-anticipated “The Zero Theorem.” The company has yet to announce a release date for “Kumiko,” but the film will show at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival on July 5.
