FilmRise has acquired select U.S. rights to the Cannes Classics documentary “Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans,” a searing portrait of one of Hollywood’s greatest icons during the production of the film that nearly destroyed him. The Brooklyn-based film and TV distributor will release the film in select theaters in New York and L.A. on November 13, as well as day-and-date on VOD, DVD and Blu-ray.
“To this day, Steve McQueen remains one of the most iconic figures of Hollywood,” said FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher. “We are honored to bring to audiences this haunting documentary that not only sheds light on such an important figure in American culture, but also reveals the behind-the-scenes drama of one of the most controversial film productions.”
The film premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and marks the fourth collaboration between BAFTA nominees Gabriel Clarke and John McKenna. Before it hits theaters, the doc will play the San Sebastian Film Festival in October.
