If you thought that the “Ghostbusters” controversy was going to die down ahead of its release next month, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news. “At that time, there was literally no movie written, you know?” she continues. “There’s nothing for you to watch, nothing is written and you’re already saying it’s the worst movie in the world!” Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones star in this new take on the cult classic, which was led by Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. Dippold — who wrote several episodes of “Parks and Recreation” as well as Feig’s “The Heat,” likewise starring McCarthy — does admit to being “a little surprised” when one Twitter user mentioned wanting her to “burn to death in a house fire.”

It hasn’t all been negative, of course. Dippold also recalls receiving a book written by Aykroyd’s father called “A History of Ghosts.” When she opened the cover, she noticed that “there was an inscription from Dan which said something like, ‘I’m here if you need any help at all, but most importantly: just have fun.'” “Ghostbusters” is set to be released on July 15.
