‘Rosemary’s Baby’ Meets ‘mother!’ in This Ingenious Darren Aronofsky-Inspired Trailer Re-Edit — Watch

Prepare yourself for a nightmare. The trailer for "Rosemary's Baby" is way more terrifying in the style of Darren Aronofsky's "mother!"

Anyone who has been paying attention to Darren Aronofsky‘s “mother!” has probably come across one or two articles comparing the film to Roman Polanski’s 1968 horror classic “Rosemary’s Baby.” The director’s marketing campaign has directly leaned into the comparison, too. One poster was designed to resemble the famous theatrical one-sheet, with Jennifer Lawrence subbing in for Mia Farrow. We’ve already witnessed “mother!” being inspired by “Rosemary’s Baby,” but what would it look like the other way around?

Youtube user Zach Prewitt is going viral among movie lovers for re-cutting a brand new trailer for “Rosemary’s Baby” in the same style Aronofsky used for the official “mother!” trailer that was released at the beginning of August. The score, the title cards, and the editing are nearly identical between the two clips, and Aronofsky’s trailer editing style ends up doing Polanski’s film the justice it deserves.

“mother!” stars Lawrence opposite Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Harris. The little plot that has been spoiled so far involves a pair of visitors who arrive unannounced at Lawrence and Bardem’s home and threaten their tranquil existence. No matter what you’ve heard about the film or how many trailers and clips you’ve watched, nothing can prepare you for what actually unfolds.

“mother!” arrives in theaters September 15. Watch the ingenious re-edit below.
