Showtime Developing Desert Drama ‘The Angry Buddhist’

Showtime‘s developing a drama series based on “The Angry Buddhist,” an upcoming novel from Seth Greenland, according to Deadline. Greenland, a novelist and screenwriter (responsible for the 1993 Ted Demme-directed “Yo! MTV Raps” VJ-starring comedy “Who’s the Man?”) as well as a playwright, has also written for “Arli$$” and “Big Love,” and will write the adaptation.

Seth Greenland’s timely new novel is set in the high California desert between the trailer parks and amphetamine labs of Desert Hot Springs and the classic mid-century architecture of Palm Springs. Meth! With “Breaking Bad” approaching its final season, I was a little worried that America’s scariest drug would be seeing less airtime. What a relief to know it might be making another appearance as a background element in a political drama.
