Sony Pictures Classics has announced that it will release the Cate Blachett and Robert Redford film, “Truth,” based on Mary Mapes’ book “Truth and Duty.”
The film tells the true story of Mary Mapes, an award-winning CBS journalist, and producer Dan Rather, who broke the story of a U.S. president who might have been AWOL from the National Guard during the Vietnam War. It follows the backlash Dan Rather and CBS News faced, as well as the effect it had on the presidential election. The film also stars Topher Grace, Elisabeth Moss and Dennis Quaid.
“Truth” is set to be released on October 16 in New York and Los Angeles, followed by a nationwide release.
