Kong Skull Island
"Kong: Skull Island"
Warner Bros.

Saturday’s Comic-Con was filled with a slew of brand new trailers, one of them being the first look at “Kong: Skull Island.” Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the action/adventure flick is set in the ‘70s and centers on King Kong’s origins.

This time audiences are transported to the birthplace of one of the most legendary monster myths. When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson take on the colossal beast in the first trailer, alongside Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman.

Toby Kebbell, Tom Wilkinson, Terry Notary, John C. Reilly, and “Straight Outta Compton” stars Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins also co-star.

In this new film, Kong is bigger than ever before. “In terms of actual size, our Kong is by far the biggest Kong,” the director previously told Entertainment Weekly. “Peter Jackson’s Kong was around 25 feet. The ‘33 Kong ranged between 25 feet and 50 feet, I want to say he was 50-plus feet when he was on the Empire State Building. He varied in size dramatically! The ’70s Kong was somewhere between them.”

And no doubt about it, the trailer does an extraordinary job at showcasing Kong’s massive size and power. “Kong: Skull Island” lands in theaters March 10, 2017. Don’t miss the exhilarating first trailer below.
