If you were worried that Marvel’s multi-series plans with Netflix would postpone a second season of “Daredevil” for years, never fear — Netflix just announced that Matt Murdock and the gang will be back in 2016.

The series, starring Charlie Cox as the blind superhero who’s not afraid of administering beatings, has been well-received following its launch two weeks ago.

An important aspect to the news: Steven S. DeKnight, who in the first season took over as showrunner after original creator Drew Goddard departed the show, will not be back for Season 2 — instead, writers Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will take the reigns.

However, not only did Petrie and Ramirez work closely with DeKnight on Season 1 (according to the release) but Petrie, Goddard and DeKnight all worked at one point with Joss Whedon, whose next independent film, “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” serves as a nexus point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The next Marvel series to expect from Netflix, “Alias Jessica Jones,” stars Krysten Ritter and should premiere in 2015. No specific time of year for “Daredevil” Season 2 was set.
