Living in the shadows of your sibling can be tough, especially if he happens to be blind and better than you at everything. That seems to be the case for Nick Kroll’s character in the new trailer for the comedy “My Blind Brother.”

Directed by Sophie Goodhart, the offbeat film stars Kroll as Bill, a middle-aged manager of an Ohio copy store who’s spent the brunt of his life being second-best to his very capable blind brother, Robbie (Adam Scott). While Robbie pushes himself to compete in athletic feats, Bill is (literally) always by his side, helping him, without ever getting any of his own glory.

Things start to look up when Bill meets a charming gal, Rose (Jenny Slate), who he falls head-over-heels for. The problem is that Rose has a complicated life and unexpectedly also happens to want to help Robbie with his next charity swim competition. Once again, Bill must compete with his brother after he also starts to having feelings for Rose.

The comedy premiered this year at SXSW and was then acquired for distribution by Starz.

In his review out of Tribeca, IndieWire’s David Ehrlich raved, “Goodhart’s brilliant cast elevates some very breezy material into something that will resonate with siblings of all sorts and sightedness, and even the minor characters leave a mark.”

“My Blind Brother” hits theaters and On Demand on September 23. Check out the trailer below.
